Coupling systems from WALTHER-PRÄZISION in the automotive industry

WALTHER-PRÄZISION has been developing and manufacturing monocouplings and multicouplings as well as docking systems since 1951. These systems enable the fast, simple and safe disconnection and connection of lines. Our coupling systems are used wherever liquid, gaseous, often difficult media, electrical and optical signals as well as power current are to be transmitted. WALTHER couplings are renowned for their easy handling and high efficiency thanks to optimum flow rates. In addition, optionally selectable non-interchangeability of the coupling halves excludes incorrect connections in advance and ensures the correct coupling of the media lines. Due to their reliability, durability and longevity, they meet the highest requirements even under extreme environmental conditions.

Automotive

Quick-release couplings can be deployed to connect lines very quickly and easily. The coupling halves lock automatically with a click after being joined. The quick-release couplings are used, among other things, in hydraulic applications in motor vehicles, in vehicle and body construction, and in cooling line connections, and are characterised by their time savings in final assembly.

Press automation

Quick couplings, multicouplings, docking systems and tool changers are essential components of the production and control process in bodywork construction. Industrial robots are equipped with tool changers for gripping, welding and gluing. Manually operated multicouplings with mechanical aid are used to supply manual welding guns and docking systems are used to supply clamping frames with which individual components are mounted on the side of the vehicle. Safety couplings are used to ensure optimum compressed air supply and quick couplings connect air, gas and fluid lines.

Bodywork construction

Engine test benches

Docking systems in test benches have proven themselves in the automotive industry during series tests of petrol and diesel engines. They ensure low-leakage, fast and safe connection of fluid and electrical lines between the engine and the test bench. The docking systems are designed in simple plate mounting construction or with their own drive unit. Apart from 12-cylinder passenger car engines and small and medium-sized vehicle engines, docking systems are also used in test areas for larger diesel units or aircraft engines. They are also used in hybrid drives and supply the engine with electrical energy, fuel, oil and coolant. Built-in elements for exhaust gas ducting are also available.

Joining and moulding

In the automotive industry, multi-couplings in plate mounting design are used for various applications. They transmit fluid media as well as analogue and digital signals. The coupling halves are connected and disconnected manually or automatically with a drive. Manual multi-couplings with a mechanical aid are used in the automotive industry, among other things, to supply energy to press tools or to supply manual welding guns.

Automotive production lines

The tool changing system for industrial robots is used in the automotive industry mainly in shellwork construction for gripping, welding, gluing, riveting, screwing and clinching. Depending on the application, the modular tool changer and the associated tool rest can be equipped with various attachments and electrical as well as fluidic elements, such as electric plugs, hydraulic blocks, Fiber optic cables or welding plugs. With the WASI 2 control system, the entire tool changing system meets the highest safety standards so that, in particular, uncontrolled undocking is prevented.
