emergency breakaways
Emercency-release couplings (also breakaway valves) disconnect fully automatically and non-destructively when a predetermined separation force is exceeded. The valves close immediately automatically when disconnecting and prevent the transferred substances from escaping from the disconnected pipe sections. After an emergency disconnection, the WALTHER-PRÄZISION couplings can be reconnected immediately and without repair.
There are two different release mechanisms in the WALTHER-PRÄZISION emergency-release coupling programme:
-
Disconnection without pull rope:
Unplanned tensile forces are transmitted directly via the hose to the locking sleeve for immediate, non-destructive disconnection
-
Separation via a separate pull cable:
Unplanned tensile forces are transferred to the locking sleeve via a pull rope for immediate, non-destructive disconnection.
For hydrogen refueling systems, WALTHER-PRÄZISION has developed a new emergency-release system – the SERIES HG breakaway couplings. These ensure that a withdrawal point at a filling station the dispenser is not damaged, even if the rigidly coupled refuelling nozzle is still connected to the vehicle while this vehicle moves away. These couplings are also available ETL-certified on request.
