Cooling couplings for liquid cooling in data centres and high-performance systems
Cooling (thermal management) of high-performance systems is becoming increasingly important in the energy supply sector, power electronics, industrial automation, as well as in data centres and AI applications. Particularly in the liquid cooling of power electronics, transformers, battery systems, high-voltage equipment and server racks, safe and leak-free connection systems are crucial for process safety and system availability.
The Clean-Break quick-connect coupling systems (dry couplings) from WALTHER-PRÄZISION have been specially developed for applications where cooling circuits need to be connected and disconnected safely, reliably and without any loss of coolant. Thanks to their automatic, drip-free valve technology, the cooling couplings close automatically upon disconnection and reliably prevent the escape of coolant.
This makes the quick coupling systems ideal for:
- Liquid cooling of data centres and server racks
- Cooling of power electronics and power converters
- Transformers and high-voltage installations
- Battery storage systems
- Hydrogen and energy applications
- Mobile and stationary cooling systems
What nominal diameters are available?
Depending on the flow and pressure requirements, nominal diameters of 4 mm, 6 mm, 9 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 50 mm and 80 mm are available.
Which coolants can be circulated through the system?
WALTHER-PRÄZISION’s cooling couplings are designed for all standard glycol-based coolants available on the market. Depending on the specific application, other coolants may be used subject to technical assessment
What coolant pressure are WALTHER systems designed for?
Depending on the series, the various coupling ranges cover all standard requirements for cooling circuits:
- up to 16 bar (aluminium versions)
- up to 64 bar (stainless steel clean-break couplings)
For applications with higher pressure requirements, other product ranges are available in addition to bespoke solutions.
What is the temperature range for which the cooling couplings are designed?
Depending on the series, the cooling couplings are designed as standard for temperatures ranging from -50 °C to 150 °C
Which standard solutions are ideal for which cooling tasks??

Available up to nominal width 16 / permissible temperatures -50 °C to 85 °C -> go directly to CG-C cooling couplings for data centres
CT Series for demaning operating environments: Stainless steel clean-break couplings from the CT Series are recommended for use in environments subject to high mechanical stresses and frequent coupling and uncoupling during cooling or temperature control.
Advantages:
- robust stainless steel construction
- drip-free disconnection
- long service life
- pressure range up to 64 bar
Available up to NW 19 / permissible temperatures -20 °C to 100 °C (other temperatures on request) -> go directly to the CT Series – stainless steel cooling couplings
CN Series for large volumes of cooling water: High-volume cooling applications can be reliably handled by the stainless steel ‘Clean-break’ CN Series, which offers high mechanical durability.
Typical applications:
- central cooling water supply
- large-scale industrial plants
- energy infrastructure
- pressure range up to 25 bar
Available up to nominal width 80 / permissible temperatures -20 °C to 100 °C (other temperatures on request) -> go directly to the CN Series – cooling couplings for high flow rates
Are there also multi-couplings designed for use in cooling systems?
Yes, for example, refrigerated vehicles can be connected to stationary refrigeration units using manually operated multi-couplings (in this case, type 90779).

Are there any other options?
Depending on your requirements, all coupling systems can be optimally adapted to a wide range of specific conditions. Please feel free to contact us.
