If the ambient air lacks a sufficient quality, human beings must have recourse to an external breathable air supply, e.g for fire brigades, rescue centres and livesaving services. In the same way, this applies to people working in a contaminated atmosphere where they are exposed to hazardous gases or steam (e.g. lab personnel).
