Use of tool-changing systems
The robot tool changer is mounted between the robot flange and the tool or gripper, enabling the rapid, repeatable changeover of different tools in automated manufacturing processes. Thanks to a robust, pneumatically actuated locking mechanism, it establishes a play-free and secure connection between the robot and the tool, including media transfer for pneumatics, electrical signals and, where applicable, other supply lines. This allows various end-of-arm tools – such as grippers, welding or cutting tools – to be used with a single robot, which significantly increases flexibility and productivity in automation. A TOOLMaster tool changer from WALTHER-PRÄZISION is therefore the central interface for automatic tool changing on the robot and is often simply referred to in practice as a tool changer.
